Why Bananas are so good for you
"FRUIT OF THE WISE MEN." That's what the ancients called bananas in the days of Alexander the Great! By instinct, it seems, they knew the healthful, nourishing values of this golden fruit. Today, scien-tists have proved why bananas are so good for you.
BOUNDING WITH VITAMINS
A good source of vitamins, essential minerals, and energy-giving sub-stances, the banana is one of Nature's rich gifts. Bananas in the diet are such a valuable protective food that they help to prevent many ills. There are many ways to enjoy them. For instance:
IN THE MORNING: Serve sliced bananas with milk or cream. Eat them with your favorite ready-to-serve or hot cereal. Bananas and sliced oranges are a popular combination-bananas and berries are good, too. And have you ever tried sliced bananas in orange juice?
AT NOON: Try a banana salad, a banana sandwich-or cook the bananas to give a new touch to that vegetable plate! Or enjoy a tasty luncheon of banana fritters or banana waffles. And hot banana muffins have such a rich, fruity flavor.
AT NIGHT: Brighten up the fruit cup with fluted bananas. (See salad section.) Serve bananas baked or broiled or fried to glorify the roast. And don't forget that good dessert -Banana Shortcake, so easy, so quick, or Banana Cream Pie ... the pie that husbands fall for, or a hot baked banana with your favorite fruit or dessert sauce.
