Culinary Pamphlets Online (CPO)

Culinary Pamphlets Online is a digital library prototype designed to showcase a collection of culinary promotional pamphlets created by American food-related companies primarily during the first half of the twentieth century. Containing recipes, artwork, and advertisements, these pieces of ephemera are far more than just miniature cookbooks. They provide an interesting perspective into American social history during the time of their creation, particularly in the advertisement of health and nutrition information, and the portrayal of the idealized housewife and her role in preparing delicious, healthy meals for the family.

This site was created by Kariann Kakeh and Marissa K. Mason in 2014 as the final project for the course IST 653: Digital Libraries at the University at Albany, as part of the M.S. Information Science degree program.
